The doors to the world of the wild self are few but precious.
If you have a deep scar, that is a door. If you have an old story, that is a door.
If you love the sky and the water so much you almost cannot bear it, that is a door.
If you yearn for a deeper life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door” :
Clarissa Pinkola Estes
2006 Harvest – Puerh Sheng Cha from the Nan Nuo Shan region in Menghai County
This tea, sourced from the high elevations of Nan Nuo Mountain, is a testament to the unique terroir of the area. The tea threads, tight and meticulously arranged, have aged gracefully, The clear, bright tea liquor it produces is a clear indicator of its pristine quality and the care taken in its processing.
One of the most striking features of this tea is its sweetness, reminiscent of sugarcane, combined with a thickness and mellowness that envelops the palate. This sweetness is not overbearing but rather perfectly balanced, ensuring that the tea remains refreshing and enjoyable with each sip. Remarkably, this tea exhibits minimal to no bitterness and astringency, making it accessible and pleasant even for those new to Puerh teas.
The Huigan, or the returning sweetness, is pronounced in this tea, complemented by its ability to induce a delightful production of saliva. This characteristic adds to the tea's refreshing nature and makes each tasting a rejuvenating experience. The flavour profile is further enhanced by a lingering and resilient aftertaste, which invites contemplation and savoured moments long after the tea has been consumed.
